About Trigger Stop
When a young child is triggered—whether by trauma or an emotional button being pushed—they can become dysregulated and exhibit challenging behaviors. This tool helps children express the sensations in their body and the emotions they're experiencing.
If a child is at a loss for words or is nonverbal, they can use visual images to communicate their internal state. This supports sensory and emotional literacy, which is the ability to identify, understand, and express sensations and feelings in a healthy way.
A caring, nurturing adult who has a relationship with the child can support them by helping them use this tool during a fight, flight, or freeze triggering event. Attuning to a child can help calm their arousal states and support their sensory system in regulating.
